Jo In-Kyung

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze statistics of the 4th Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES)(2007) focusing on quality of life, smoking, drinking, nutrition and exercise by gender analysis methods.
In Korea, the quality of women"s life is lower than men"s in all ages, and elderly women are having more limited lives than elderly men in activities although their average life span is longer. Also, we tend to think that women"s smoking and drinking problems are serious but statistically women are much less smoking and less drinking than men. In nutrition, the rates of women skipping a meal and taking less than the needed amount of 11 nutriments are higher than men"s. On the other hand, women exercise less than men, in particular, muscular exercises.
All these results are related to socio-cultural backgrounds of Korean women and men. Therefore, it is very important to research health issues, especially women"s health, to analyze statistics or to study with gender perspectives.
